Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan stepped forward to combat the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
As we all are aware India is facing a coronavirus pandemic and because of it, there has been a lockdown in India for more than a month. Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and many others have come forward to help fight this battle.
India’s nationwide coronavirus lockdown, the biggest in the world, will be extended until at least May 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said. It is clear that this lockdown put poor people at risk of livelihood, access to food, shelter, health, and other basic needs.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the PM CARE fund for the nation in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, many Bollywood stars, directors, and producers have come forward and donated a generous amount of their income to the PM-CARES fund.
Here we bring you a list of Bollywood stars who have pledged their support to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund and some of the stars are also taking responsibility of the daily wage workers for their food and other basic needs.
Akshay Kumar
Khiladi Akshay Kumar is a real-life hero. He always initiates the good cause and supports the nation and our government by all his means. The Actor has announced to contribute Rs 25 crore to help the nation in its fight against coronavirus. Akshay tweeted, “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi Ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai”.
He is also requesting people not to venture out of their homes during the lockdown. Lately, in a video, Akshay lashed out at those violating the lockdown.
Salman Khan
Salman Khan’s charity organisation Being Human has provided help to various people in need through the years and recent reports suggest that the actor has come forward to help cine workers who work closely with Salman Khan for many of his films. The actor will be bearing all the expenses to provide food and money to cine workers who are out of work now due to the coronavirus outbreak. Salman Khan also announced to transfer of money directly to the accounts of workers who are associated with the film industry.
Shahrukh Khan
It is known to many that Shahrukh Khan is one of the most charitable Bollywood stars working in the industry right now. King Khan is the owner of many companies like KKR, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and others. The actor announced that his companies Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX have pledged to contribute to several COVID-19 relief funds.
He took Instagram to share this news and captioned it as “In these times its imp to make everyone around u working tirelessly for u.. not related to u.. perhaps even unknown to u… to feel they are not alone and by themselves. Let’s just make sure we all do our little bit to look after each other. India and all Indians are One Family. Stay Safe Stay Healthy and don’t forget to pray”.
Well, these three Bollywood stars topped the list with enormous help and support but there are many other Bollywood stars who have put their foot forward and joined the COVID-19 fight and announced that they would donate to PM CARES Fund.

- Actor Varun Dhawan made a donation of Rs 30 lakh.
- Kartik Aaryan made a Donation of Rs 1 Crore.
- Vicky Kaushal donates 1 crore to the PM CARES fund.
- Sunny Deol donates Rs 50 lakh from the MPLADS fund.
- Ekta Kapoor donates one year’s salary to workers.
- Hema Malini released a whopping amount of Rs 1 crore from the MPLADS.
- Hrithik Roshan donated medical kits and masks for prevention.
Many Bollywood stars, without disclosing the donation amount pledged to donate to PM CARES & CM relief fund. Anushka Sharma, and Virat Kohli pledge support to fight against COVID-19. Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Sara Ali Khan, Priyanka- Nick & Katrina Kaif pledge donation to PM CARES & CM relief fund.
